Wing Portal

Wing Portal: a steel portal with 26 radiating feather spars, 19.7 m from wingtip to wingtip and 10.8 m tall, on a 546 x 426 in plywood stage in the Black Rock Desert. Rebuilt in 3D from the original engineering model and drawings, the piece assembles in order: steel foundation, plywood stage and stairs, the S005 legs, the portal frame, then the feathers, with EncapLED PR40 pixels placed along each one, aimed down at the playa and out to the audience. The site is real USGS lidar of the playa, with the surrounding ranges from USGS elevation data. Record any loop straight to video.
